The bottom of this page has a link to the Medicaid Provider Look Up Directory. Review the 'Things to consider' and 'Find a Vermont Medicaid enrolled dentist" information before going to the Provider Look Up Directory to search for a dental provider.

Things to consider before you look for a dental provider for your child

Every child should have a medical and dental home – a place where they regularly receive care. A dental home, or regular source of dental care, is where your child receives regular preventive care, and other dental care as needed. Remember you, your child and your dentist are going to be partners in maintaining your child’s oral health. Dental care is a very personalized service that requires a good relationship between the dentist and the patient. You can ask family, friends, neighbors or co-workers for recommendations abut dental providers. If you are moving to a new area, your current dentist may be able to recommend a dental provider.
As you consider dental providers, keep in mind that not all dentists are enrolled Medicaid providers. Of those who are enrolled Medicaid dental providers, you may find some are not accepting new patients. You may have to contact a number of dental providers in your area.
Other things to consider
  • Is the appointment schedule convenient for you?
  • Is the office easy to get to from your home or job?
  • Does the office appear to be clean, neat and orderly?
  • Is your dentist a member of the American Dental Association (ADA)? All ADA member dentists voluntarily agree to abide by the high ethical standards reflected in the ADA Principles of Ethics and Code of Professional Conduct as a condition of their membership.

The Vermont Medicaid Healthcare Provider Look Up allows consumers to find Medicaid providers by type (dentist, physician, etc.) and/or location (town, county). The directory includes hospitals, physicians, dental providers, behavioral health providers, home health, etc.
Search for dentists by following these directions:
The link at the bottom of these directions will take you to the Vermont Medicaid Healthcare Provider Look Up.
Once on the Healthcare Provider Look Up page, scroll down to the Optional Criteria section.
In the section By Location, choose the city where you live or want to receive dental care. If using a city or town does not bring any results, you may want to choose your county and return a countywide list of providers.
Skip the By Name section and move on to Other Criteria. In the Other Criteria section, you should check those items that are appropriate regarding accepting new patients or handicap accessibility. In Provider Specialty, you should choose Dentist. Then if needed, choose any language, gender or age preferences. Then click the Find button. That should bring back a list of dental providers based on the choices identified.
At the bottom of the results page is a button for a Printable Version. Either print the list or make notes. Then you can begin contacting providers to make an appointment for your child.
